Local Eats with New Friends

This weekend has gone by in a blur of fabulous food, wine and company. In our new home of Lanzarote there are many festivals/events throughout the year, due to covid there has been a pause to most of these events, some not returning and some only coming back this year.

This weekend was the Saborea Lanzarote 'Cocinas Volcáincas' Festival in Puerto del Carmen. We went along on Saturday afternoon with out neighbour and friend Dee, arriving at just before 2pm and waddling away full of fabulous food and wine after 6pm, even returning on Sunday to finish spending our tickets on delicious treats.

The festival focuses on showcasing the finest restaurants, bodegas and food suppliers the island has to offer, and we were so excited to sample them all. We were even happier to see that 2 restaurants that are local to us here in our home town of Tias were represented at the festival.

We tried many yummy foods, I couldn't possibly remember them all, but it ranged from freshly caught fish, stews, roasted meats, smoked cheeses and artisan chocolates and sweet treats, every one of them more delicious than the last.

The island is volcanic in nature and is known for growing a lot of grapes for wine making, and there are many many bodegas on the island, we sampled wine from lots of them, and they were also delicious.

We had an amazing weekend sampling the best that our new home has to offer with a wonderful friend, and we can't wait to be back again next year.
